The RIAA seems to be finally showing signs of it's losing battle against "rampant" filesharing. Apple's iTunes and prominent online music service, Puretracks, have announced that they're dropping DRM enforced content on the majority of their catalogues. Thus allowing people who purchased their music to transfer it to their media of choice as easily as before this whole hullabaloo started. Apple's research showed that only 3% of the media contained on iPods were DRM encoded. The majority is from other sources, specifically cds where DRM isn't enforced.
I really hope Microsoft follows suit. That would be the final nail in the proverbial coffin. _________________ No trees were harmed in the making of this post. However, billions of electrons were inconvenienced. |

I agree that DRM has it's uses, and I wouldn't argue against an artist that wants drm protection on their works, but I STRONGLY believe that having a blanket coverage of DRM requested or not is a seriously flawed system. _________________ "So a bunch of dolts in a forum are whining.
